Help for Remote Stage Timer (RmtStageTimer) on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The app uses your local Wi‑Fi network only — no account and no internet required for timing.

Quick start

1. Pick a role on each device
   One device is Control (operator). One or more devices are Display (stage screens).
2. Enter the same Room Code
   Use the same 4‑digit code on every device in your group (example: 6677). This keeps your session separate from other users on the same network.
3. Allow Local Network access
   When prompted, choose Allow. On Mac: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.
4. Confirm connection
   On Control, Connected Displays should show 1 or more. Then set your time and press Start (or the Space bar on Mac / external keyboard).

Roles

Features overview

• Room codes — isolate multiple independent sessions on the same Wi‑Fi.
• Warning colors — yellow and red thresholds (in minutes).
• Post‑countdown behavior — None, Count Up, Flash, or Clock.
• Live adjust — change hours/minutes/seconds while running; countdown rebases immediately.
• Font size — scale the stage display (seconds/AM‑PM hide at large sizes in Clock mode).
• Stay awake — screen sleep is disabled while the app is open (ideal for stage use).
• Dark interface — always dark for low‑light environments.

Networking requirements

• All devices must be on the same local network (same Wi‑Fi / LAN).
• Internet is not required.
• Local Network permission must be allowed for the app.
• Guest Wi‑Fi networks that block device‑to‑device traffic may prevent connecting.

Troubleshooting

Displays won’t connect

• Confirm the Room Code matches on Control and every Display.
• Confirm Local Network is allowed for Remote Stage Timer on each device.
• Make sure devices are on the same Wi‑Fi (not cellular, not a “guest” network that isolates clients).
• On Mac Control: leave the Control window open; Displays should appear under Connected Displays within a few seconds.
• Try leaving Control and re‑entering the same room code, then reopen Display.

Connected count looks wrong

• Update to the latest version on all devices (Control and Displays must match).
• Restart Control once after Displays join if a stale count remains.

Connection drops after sitting idle

• Current versions send a keepalive while Control is open. Update if you are on an older build.
• Keep Control in the foreground during the event when possible.
• Avoid putting the Control Mac/iPad to sleep.

Mac as Control

• Use the Mac App Store / Catalyst build of the app (not only “Designed for iPhone”).
• Allow Local Network access when prompted.
• Space bar toggles Start/Stop when the Control window is focused.

Timer colors / thresholds

• Yellow and Red are set in minutes on the Control panel.
• Color changes at the exact minute boundary (e.g. yellow at 3:00 when Yellow is set to 3).
• Stopped/preview time also respects threshold colors.
